Overview

The Navitas Professional Year Program is a professional development program combining formal learning and an Australian internship placement experience.

Navitas Professional is the only provider able to offer the Australian Computer Society (ACS) Professional Year Program, Engineers Australia’s Professional Year in Engineering and Skilled Migration Internship Program - Accounting (SMIPA) nationwide.

The program is designed to assist international student graduates gain employment in their chosen career, as well as provide eligibility for migration points towards permanent residency.

Grading and assessments

Participants are graded on classroom attendance and participation, assessment tasks and completion of the 12 week internship placement in their field of study.

To receive a Professional Year certification participants must have a 100%  attendance record, complete the required assessment tasks and a 12 week internship placement in their field of study.

Navitas is approved by DIBP and Professional Associations (CPA, CA, IPA, ACS & EEA) to offer the Professional Year in ICT and Engineering, and the Skilled Migration Internship Program - Accounting (SMIPA)

  • 100% attendance is required by DIBP and enforced by Navitas Professional
  • Our training and assessment practices are fully compliant under ASQA Standards for Registered Training Organisations
  • Business Development Coordinators interview all applicants to assess suitability for the program and internship placements
  • All Navitas Professional trainers hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and a minimum Certificate IV in a relevant vocational qualification
  • All trainers have Australian workplace experience and utilise best practice adult learning techniques
  • Internship Placement Coordinators perform a minimum of one workplace progress assessment during each internship
  • All Navitas Professional graduates are surveyed for student satisfaction on completion of the Professional Year Program

Am I eligible?

To qualify for the Professional Year Program, you must:

To qualify for the Professional Year Program, you must:

  • have completed an undergraduate or postgraduate award in Australia in a relevant field of study
  • hold or applied for a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485, either stream) with at least 12 months validity or;
  • hold an eligible Secondary Visa with work and study rights  with at least 12 months validity
  • provide evidence of English language proficiency
  • provide a valid skills assessment from a relevant professional association

Offshore university graduates may be eligible to complete the Professional Year in Engineering on a 476 visa. For further information visit the Engineering Education Australia website.
